Why does my cat hate my dad?

Ever since we brought Edgar Allen Poe home as a kitten, she has hated my father and men. She is feral and will bite, claw, hiss and draw blood whenever my dad or any other male tries to pick her up or touch her. When she would go into heat she would become dad's best friend and sleep on his bed and curl up with him, but completely ignore me. Once we got her fixed, however, she went back to before biting and clawing and only liking me. She had not been abused before we got her and my father has not harmed her. Why does she hate him?
