Which is better: Curtis or Juilliard?

It sound to me like one of the responders tried to get into Juilliard, and was NOT ACCEPTED - sour gs! Or he flat out knew he could not get it! One of my former students just graduated there with a degree in horn performance - and I can ure you that the quality of education at BOTH of the school you mentioned is EXCELLENT. Yes, NY is a bigger place than Philadelphia - but you have the premier players from both orchestras teaching there. You also get some of those SAME teachers at other school in the same city. My son attended Temple - and got an excellent education, for a fraction of the price (OK - Curtis is free - you know what I mean!) No - Temple is NOT Curtis - but look into OTHER school besides the two you mentioned - like Manhattan School of Music, Academy of the Arts, etc. Find the TEACHER that you want to study with - get a few lessons ahead of time - and then decide.
