What to do about illegals?

My husband works construction and recently became a US citizen. We are from Venezuela. But he got fired when his boss realized he wants to be paid US minimum legal wages and have Social Security and other benefits. His bost told him that there are many others who are not here legal who do the job cheaper and no problems with complaining. Why is this ok? Why do we work so hard to have a good life in America for someone to steal his job by breaking the law? Why are we punished for paying our taxes? What kind of nation puts it's own people 2nd for the sake of profits?
