According Israel? the formation of Israel obeyed to the verses from the Bible?

well I am not sure but the formation of Israel is because the zionism wanted a jewish state and the foundation come from the Bible? Genesis 17:7-8 states: "And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you. And I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." and later God gave the land formally to the child of Israel with Moses and Joshua, well I am not sure if Jewish in Israel believe that Israel is the homeland of Judaism? that's the reason they tried to repeat the same acts that moses and israelites done for dominating the land of Canaan in 1948 with the conquest? I hope you can understand my question, sorry for my English, I speak spanish, well I learned Israel or Palestine is the land of Jewish people because God gave them and they reconquest the land because of that in 1948?
